Lessons for Elementary-aged Children through Adult

"Music is a more potent instrument than any other for education"--Plato

Lessons for elementary-age children begin around the age of 6 or 7, depending on the readiness of the indiviual child.  Beginners generally take a 30-minute lesson once a week and are expected to practice between lessons.  Adult students can take a 30, 45, or 60-minute lessons depending on their goals and previous piano experience.   Adults also must practice in order to fully benefit from piano lessons. Lesson content is generally the same, but more in-depth and sophisitcated for the adults. ...and adults don't have to play in recitals!  I offer comprtative pricing and a flexible schedule, with a variety of times to fit school and work schedules, as well as day times for full-time moms, seniors and homeschoolers.

Piano study has numerous cognitive, physical, social, pyschological, and emotional benefits.  It improves math and anaylitical skills, develop coodination, facilitate language development, and promote emotional health.  Music study also allows for the development of self discipline and creares a sense of accomplishment.  Music is an essential component to a child's education.  Piano study also can have significant benefits for adult students as well such as relieving stress and allowing for a creative outlet, excersising joints in the hand which helps protect against arthritis, and improved memory and mood.

Preschool Lessons

A head start in music is a head start in life!

Preschool lessons are geared for children ages 4-6 and not only meet the preschooler's desire for individual attention (unlike group music classes), but we also have many different activities that teach other concepts as well as music.  It is well-known that piano study improves math ability.   What is relatively unknown is that a window of opportunity exsists in the preschool years where learning piano can facilitate neural connections in the brain needed for mathematical understanding later.   This and help with small muscle development andlanguage skills are great reasons to give your preschooler piano lessons.  Your child will be way too busy having fun to realize there is some serious learning going on!  (Your secret will be safe with me!)
Lessons are 20 minutes long. Morning and afternoon times are available.  Contact me for more information!

Accompanying and Performance

Need a pianist?

I have nearly 40 years experience accompanying intrumentalists, singers, and ensembles of all ages and levels.  I believe that even beginning musicians should work with a professional accompanist and I enjoy helping them in the learning process.  I have done work with concerts, recitals, auditions, and recordings.   Collaboration is one of my favorite parts of my job and I would be excited to work with you on your next project.
